Jerome Lawrence

EFNEP Program Assistant

Jerome joined the Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) team in November of 2019, and is the adult Expanded Family Nutrition Education Program (*EFNEP) Assistant for the City of Virginia Beach.  Prior to VCE, Jerome served as a Surface Warfare Engineering Officer Technical Specialist in the US Navy (CWO, Retired), followed by a brief stint in the private sector as an Automation Electrical Technician at SEVERSTAL Steel Columbus, MS.  Once back in Virginia Beach, VA, he worked as an Assistant Voter Registrar in both full and part time capacities, and briefly served as the Deputy Director of Elections and Deputy Voter Registrar for the City of Norfolk, VA.

Jerome received his MA degree in Human Resources Development with Graduation Honors from Webster University, St. Louis, MO and his BA degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Columbia College, Columbia, MO.

Jerome enjoys helping others.  He is a life member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), a member of HR People Strategy (HRPS), and follows various technical, strategic, economic, political, media, and scholarly sources to remain current.  His hobbies include travel and trivia, music and dance, watching soccer and track and field sports, and communicating with his family.

*The EFNEP program offers free nutrition awareness and education classes to all qualified adults, between 18 and 45 years of age with children under their care whether in-person, on line, or over the phone.  Note:  In-person lessons, which also incorporate cooking and food demonstrations, are only offered whenever face-to-face teaching can safely occur.
